Most of my reading is undirected reading for personal pleasure. Sometimes, though, I pick a gimmick and turn it into a personal reading project.

▶ Enormities (6)
Can I separate the art from the artist? In this experiment I deliberately selected books from science fiction writers who have committed monstrous acts of evil.
This is limited to writers who have committed overt acts, not who merely hold or write about repugnant beliefs. So, NAMBLA-defending Samuel R. Delany is out, because we have no credible evidence that he abused anyone. And it's limited to those who wrote science fiction, so convicted child molester Walter Breen is out, because he wrote no fiction, and convicted child abusers David and Leigh Eddings are out because they wrote fantasy, not science fiction. The fantasy short story The Waterfall by Marion Zimmer Bradley is included because it came with my copy of The Planet Savers which is science fiction.
- Science Fiction To the Stars, by L. Ron Hubbard
- Science Fiction The Planet Savers, by Marion Zimmer Bradley
- Fantasy The Waterfall, by Marion Zimmer Bradley
- Science Fiction Ten Thousand Light-Years from Home, by James Tiptree, Jr.
