I didn't expect to learn anything except that Donald Trump in his private life is exactly the same vicious, petty, and narcissistic man that he appears to be in public.

I was right.

The Trump family is wretched. Nobody comes off looking good in Mary Trump's book, not even herself. The worst thing that ever happened to that family was Fred Trump getting rich. The wealth poisoned every one of them. If they'd been forced to work for a living, to deal with the real world, maybe they wouldn't be so completely and utterly irredeemable. Mary Trump at least seemed to turn out halfway decent, probably because she was on the periphery of the family (due to her father being the black sheep, and later his death.) It's shameful the way they treated her, but I can't help but wonder if, in the end, keeping her part of the family around all that money would have destroyed her as well.
