Kampung Boy is a graphic novel about growing up as a village boy in rural Malaysia. It's more like a kid's picture book than a comic book, which makes it easier to read. Lat throws in some Malay words, but it's mostly understandable. He tells about adventures learning to swim, fish, attending Koran-reading lessons, and even his circumcision ceremony. The book ends with Lat leaving the kampung to go off to school. It's not a great or compelling book, but it's interesting enough.
