It’s a rollicking grand adventure through the galaxy. It’s a spoof on the worst excesses of space opera, and has some genuinely funny moments. I laughed aloud. At first the plot reminded me of Doc Smith’s Skylark books, and then it reminded me of the Lensman series.
But.
But!
(There’s always a but.)
But: this kind of deliberately bad writing is funny as a novelette. It’s tiresome as a novel. I tired of this one long, long before its 190 pages were over.
Thumbs down.
