Who Goes There?

The Thing is a better movie than the story upon which it is based. Who Goes There? has a great idea--an Antarctic expedition unfreezes a shapeshifting alien that can perfectly mimic other forms of life--but the storytelling isn't up to snuff. Campbell doesn't care much for characters, and it shows. All he cares about is the science, but that makes for a cardboard cutout of a story. I wouldn't recommend reading it.
