Plot synopsis: Alex Van Humphries died exploring Venus years ago. Alex's father, Martin Van Humphries, puts a bounty of 10 billion dollars on the recovery and return of his son's body. Alex's little brother--now estranged from his father--determines to recover his brother and win his father's money, if not his respect. Martin Van Humphries' sworn enemy Lars Fuchs is also bucking for the prize money, and it's a race to Venus.

Venus has a plot straight out of 1930s pulp fiction, and characterization to match. But it's a real page-turner for all its faults. I read it in two sittings.
