The General
Previously published as "Dead Hand"
General Bel Riose of the Empire is making a good show of conquering the Foundation, but--as predicted by Hari Seldon's psychohistory equations--the Emperor feels threatened by a successful general, and stops Riose.

The Mule
Psychohistory analyzes and predicts human behavior on the large scale, in populations of billions. What it can't predict is the actions of a single individual. And if that individual is The Mule, a mutant with the power to manipulate human emotions, the Seldon Plan and the Foundation are like so much chaff.
